Instagram Accounts

Every flow belongs to one connected Instagram account. This page covers connecting, switching, refreshing and disconnecting them.

Requirements

  • The account must be a Business or Creator account. Personal accounts can't be automated — Instagram doesn't expose messaging APIs for them. Switch the type in the Instagram app under Settings → Account type and tools.
  • You must be a workspace admin to connect or disconnect an account.
  • Your plan must have an account slot free. See Plans, Quotas & Limits.

Connecting an account

  1. From the dashboard click Connect Instagram, or go to Settings → Instagram accounts → Connect Instagram.
  2. You're redirected to Instagram's own login and consent screen.
  3. Approve the permissions InfluDM requests:
    • Basic profile — your user id, username, name, picture and media list.
    • Manage messages — receive DM webhooks and send messages.
    • Manage comments — receive comment webhooks and reply to comments.
  4. You land back on the dashboard with a success dialog, and the account appears in the sidebar's account switcher.

This is Instagram Login, not Facebook Login

InfluDM uses the Instagram API with Instagram Login flow. You sign in with your Instagram credentials directly — there's no Facebook Page to pick and no Business Manager setup.

MessageWhat it means
Your plan doesn't cover another Instagram accountYou're at your plan's account allowance. Upgrade or add accounts.
That Instagram account is already connected to another workspaceAn Instagram account can live in exactly one InfluDM workspace. Disconnect it there first.
We couldn't connect that Instagram accountThe consent screen was cancelled or Instagram returned an error. Try again.

Reconnecting an account that's already in your own workspace is safe — it just refreshes the stored tokens and profile details, and doesn't consume another slot.

Switching between accounts

When more than one account is connected, an account switcher appears in the header of the dashboard and the flows list. The selection scopes what you see:

  • Flows — only flows for the selected account.
  • Flow builder — new flows are created against the selected account.

Contacts and Leads are workspace-wide; Leads has its own account filter.

Access tokens

Instagram issues a long-lived token that lasts 60 days and is refreshed for you in the background. Settings → Instagram accounts shows the expiry date per account, plus a Refresh token button if you ever want to extend it by hand.

If a token does lapse, that account's flows stop sending until you reconnect it. The account row is the place to check.

Paused accounts

An account can show a Paused badge with the note "Automation paused — your plan doesn't cover this account." This happens when your plan's account allowance drops below the number of accounts you have connected — for example when a plan lapses or you downgrade.

While an account is paused:

  • Every incoming Instagram event for it is dropped. Nothing is queued for later.
  • Its flows, contacts and leads are kept, untouched.

Renewing or adding accounts switches it back on automatically. See Billing & Plans.

Disconnecting an account

Settings → Instagram accounts → Disconnect.

Disconnecting deletes data

Disconnecting deletes that account's flows and contacts. Your contact usage is not restored — the contact counter is cumulative by design, so removing an account never gives allowance back. Captured leads survive: they're your data, and they keep the contact's username and form answers as a snapshot.

Disconnecting does free an account slot, so you can connect a different Instagram account in its place without upgrading.
